Dr. Yen grew up in Taiwan, Taipei before her entire family relocated to Southern California in United States when she was 12 years old. Combining her passion for improving the lives of individuals around her with her love for animals, she went on to obtain the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the Western University of Health Sciences in 2009. Dr. Yen practiced integrative and holistic veterinary medicine in Southern California and British Columbia, Canada, for 14 years before moving to Oklahoma to join her family. Dr. Yen is certified in veterinary acupuncture, balance method acupuncture, traditional Chinese herbal therapy, traditional Chinese food therapy, tui-na massage therapy, and she holds a prestigious Masters Degree in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine from the Chi University.
Dr. Yen's interest in holistic medicine and the integrative approach started at a young age. She watched as her father, who had severe cervical bone spurs suffer through chronic, severe pain that multiple pain medications could not alleviate. Her father could hardly get an hour of sleep each night. Surgery was not a good option as there was a 50% chance given by surgeons that her father might become paralyzed below his neck if surgery was performed. Determined to find better solutions, her family began to pursue acupuncture, herbal medicine, tui-na massage, and Qi Gong for her father. That was when she saw a dramatic improvement in her father's pain and overall quality of life. Witnessing the amazing benefits first hand, Dr. Yen decided to learn and incorporate natural and less invasive modalities in her practice of veterinary medicine.
In addition to traditional Chinese medicine, Dr. Yen also is versed in laser therapy, essential oil therapy, gemmotherapy, and flower essences for pets. She is a life long learner and continues to pursue advanced training in holistic modalities. Dr. Yen is passionate about using a balanced and integrative approach to maximize health and promote natural healing. She believes that the body is amazing and that by providing good nutrition along with natural, holistic modalities as well as proper exercise and emotional support to complement conventional medical care optimal wellness and health can be achieved.
